ODESSA - Johnathan Venable thinks there is too much crime in the Permian Basin.

"There's approximately 800 arrest each week in Odessa. You do the math that's about 3,200 mug shots," he said.

Venable is the publisher of Mugshot Magazine, a monthly publication, that shows all the fugitives in Midland and Odessa.

"Hopefully this will deter people from wanting to be arrested and be put on 'blast'," he said.

Venable told NewsWest 9 he's not doing this to humiliate anyone.

"It's not to humiliate anybody, but it's to inform the public, because it's all public information, " he said, adding, "People are curious about it. They're nosy. "

Venable is working with Midland and Odessa police departments, the Ector County Sheriff's Office and the Ector County attorney. As well as both county's crime stoppers.

"They were on board because they wanted any help publicizing the fugitives," he said.

Right now, the magazine will only feature Midland and Odessa arrests, but Venable hopes to expand.

"Big Spring and the surrounding communities. That's definitely something in our foreseeable future that we'll work with," he explained.
