Multi-vehicle crash leaves 1 dead, 1 injured in Ector County

An Odessa man Robert Montes, 39, died in a car crash at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — A multi-vehicle crash in Ector County Wednesday left one Odessan dead and another Odessan injured, according to Sergeant Steven Blanco with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The crash happened at 3 p.m. on South Moss Ave.

Thirty-nine-year-old Robert Montes was traveling south on Moss Avenue in a 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. 

Manuela Rayos Castillo, 69, driving a 2008 Land Rover LR2, was pulling out of a private drive attempting to turn north onto Moss.  

According to DPS, Castillo failed to yield the right of way and Montes struck her car and he was ejected from his motorcycle on impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

Castillo was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa with minor injuries. 

This crash remains under investigation and no other information is available.
