ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A new chief has been named for Odessa Fire-Rescue.
John Alvarez was chosen to lead the team.
Alvarez is a 25-year veteran of Odessa Fire-Rescue.
We're told he has worked his way up the ranks, serving most recently as the Assistant Chief of Operations.
'Alvarez is committed to the fire service and the City of Odessa making him the ideal candidate for the Chief's position. He has earned the respect of his peers and will continue to lead the department in a positive direction,' said Interim City Manager Michael Marrero in a release.
