LOVINGTON, NM (KWES) - Saturday, the New Mexico State Police was contacted after an officer-involved shooting in Lovington.
It happened around 2:00 p.m. on W. Jefferson St. in Lovington after officers received an emergency call of shots fired at a residence.
Sergeant Elizabeth Armijo, the Public Information Officer of New Mexico State Police says while police investigated the call at the residents in Lovington, shots were fired by law enforcement.
A man was shot as a result, and transported to the hospital where he later died.
This incident is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau.
