ODESSA, Texas — Odessa College is preparing students for the workforce and ensuring safety is at the top of their minds, thanks to their OSHA Alliance Program.
A year ago, OSHA ran a safety meeting and discussed the process on the college forming an alliance with OSHA because you can apply to have an alliance with the administration.
This means students receive better training, certification and educational training.
Not only does the alliance enhance the training material, it also provides better resources for students to complete the training.
"You just don't get an OSHA Alliance you are approved to have one. Odessa College, if you're from the area, people know our reputation and so does OSHA," Dean McCain with Odessa College said. "We had many meetings with them and on the academic side, and education and training side once we explained in Zoom meetings of what we had. They were excited about forming this alliance as well. So it was a win win that each side wanted to participate just as much as the other side to make this happen."
Having the alliance would mean that maybe one day, Odessa College would become an OSHA-Authorized Training Center.
