ODESSA, Texas — As of Tuesday, Chris Adams, the director of equipment services of Odessa, was fired by then City Manager John Beckmeyer.
According to the termination documents, Adams was fired after an investigation determined his use of unauthorized city funds.
"Given the severity of your misconduct, corrective disciplinary action is inappropriate in this matter," Beckmeyer said. "Per Paragraph 2 of the above- referenced policy, I have determined that your employment with the City of Odessa is terminated as of this date."
The termination documents also stated that Adams failed to attend his termination meeting scheduled on the same day.
The amount of city funds that were used has not been released to public.
NewsWest 9 contacted the City of Odessa attorney's office where we learned that an investigation is underway by the Texas Rangers due to the amount of funds used.
No criminal charges have been filed against Adams, only reports of grievances filed against him from employee peers.
NewsWest 9 will keep track of this ongoing investigation.
