Two people in Odessa die after vehicle strikes west side of Bowie Middle School

The fatal accident happened on Friday at 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of 22nd St. and Golder Ave. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors.

ODESSA, Texas — A driver and passenger in Odessa are dead Friday night after the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the west side of Bowie Middle School, according to the Odessa Police Department.

According to a media release, at 11:30 p.m., OPD responded to 22nd St. and Golder Ave. because of a major crash.

Once officers arrived and conducted an investigation, the investigation revealed that a black Nissan Altima was going eastbound in the 600 block of W. 22nd St. at a high rate of speed. That is when the driver lost control and crashed into a street sign and north fence of Bowie Middle School. The car continued through the fence and hit the west side of Bowie.

Next of kin have not been notified for the driver and the passenger.

According to OPD, speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the fatal crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
