Odessa man arrested for distributing cocaine

Ray Valenzuela tried to escape an arrest on foot but was later detained and over two grams of cocaine was found all together.

ODESSA, Texas — The Odessa Police Department recently arrested a suspect involved with distributing cocaine. 

Back in August 2023, OPD received a tip about a person distributing kilograms of cocaine near 600 East 36th Street. According to the arrest affidavit, it took until Oct. 11 to confirm the suspect's identity as Ray Valenzuela. 

When officers contacted Valenzuela, he tried to evade the arrest, but was later taken into custody. During the process of the arrest, officers in total found over two grams of cocaine all together. 

Valenzuela does have a criminal history with a charge of Evading in a Motor Vehicle and he is also not allow to possess a firearm. 

Valenzuela was charged with Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. He was booked into Ector County Jail on Oct. 12, but has since been released on Oct. 17.
