Man dies in hospital Thursday after sustaining severe injuries from Jan. 24 motorcycle crash

New details from OPD have been released following a motorcycle crash on North Dixie Blvd. on Jan. 24.

ODESSA, Texas — Thirty-eight-year-old Daniel Allen, who was involved in a crash on Jan. 24 in Odessa, died in the hospital Thursday night from injuries he sustained in the crash.

According to a crash report from OPD on Jan. 25, officers responded to the area of University Ave. and Dixie Blvd. in reference to a major crash on Jan. 24.

An investigation revealed that Allen, driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle, was traveling northbound in the 2700 block of N. Dixie Blvd. Twenty-two-year-old Paul Anthony Navarrette, driving a Dodge Dart, was going southbound in the 2700 block of N. Dixie Blvd.

Navarrette was then attempting to turn left into a private driveway and struck Allen.

According to the city, Allen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As of Thursday night, Feb. 1, Allen died due to his injuries.

Next of kin has been notified.

According to OPD, this fatal crash case will be sent to a grand jury for further review.

The investigation is on-going.
