One dead after collision in Pecos County

The collision occurred on FM 1053 near mile marker 384 in Pecos County.

PECOS COUNTY, Texas — On July 20, at 8:00 a.m., a fatal collision occurred involving two vehicles on FM 1053 near mile marker 384 in Pecos County, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

The release further stated that the vehicles involved were a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by 21-year-old Donnavin Brown from Odessa and a 2024 GMC Sierra driven by Nicholas Calloway, a 25-year-old male from Houston.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the Ford F-150 was heading southbound and then veered into the northbound lane, prompting the GMC Sierra to swerve into the southbound lane. The Ford F-150 then returned to its lane, leading to a head-on collision with the GMC Sierra. 

Calloway was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. 

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.
