One dead after crash in Upton County

A crash in Upton County kills a passenger not wearing a seatbelt Thursday morning on US 385, mile marker 406.

UPTON COUNTY, Texas — A passenger is dead following a crash in Upton County Thursday morning at 7:45 a.m. according to a Texas Department of Public Safety crash report. 

According to the report, a 2016 Ford F-150 driven by 24-year-old Fernando Bosquez, with passenger 24-year-old, Jacob Campos, was traveling southbound on US 385 in what witnesses say was "an unsafe manner".

The two then collided with a 2024 Ram 2500 driven by 32-year-old Angel Banuelos, in the northbound lanes. 

Both drivers were taken to Odessa Medical Center with injuries, Bosquez in serious condition and Banuelos in stable condition. 

Campos was taken to McCamey Hospital and was pronounced dead by a medical specialist.

The report also says that both drivers were wearing seatbelts, while Campos wasn't. 

The crash is still being investigated, there is no further information at this time.
