One dead after single-vehicle crash in Reeves County

The preliminary information stated that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on IH-10 at approximately mile marker 222 when the accident happened.

REEVES COUNTY, Texas — On August 8, at 12:10 AM, a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on IH-10 at around mile marker 222 in Reeves County, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. 

The vehicle involved was a 2023 Toyota Highlander driven by 36-year-old Polina Kanin, of Astoria, NY. 

The preliminary information stated that the vehicle was traveling eastbound at approximately milepost 222 when it veered off the road to the left, entered the center median, struck a bridge pillar, and then rolled over. 

Kanin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further details were provided.
