PECOS COUNTY, Texas — Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster has issued a disaster declaration for the county in response to the threat of wildfires in the area.
The declaration went into effect Tuesday and will remain in effect for seven days, unless the commissioners court votes to extend it until further notice at their meeting on April 11.
The county is currently in a burn ban, with commissioners also deciding whether or not to extend that another 90 days at their next meeting.
