Person dies after being trapped inside structure in Howard County amid fire

The fire was reported by the Howard County Volunteer Fire Department on Thursday and occurred on Wednesday along Jay Road.
The Howard County Volunteer Fire Department reported to commissioners about the increase of fires they've seen locally. This led to the burn ban recommendation.

HOWARD COUNTY, Texas — One person died on Wednesday after being trapped inside a burning building in Howard County, according to a Howard County Volunteer Fire Department (HCVFD) Facebook post.

HCVFD were called to the fire on Jay Rd. in Tubbs Edition. Firefighters heard that someone was trapped inside.

According to the post, when crews arrived, they deployed a hose line and made entry through the front door.

The post stated that with the help of the Big Spring Fire Department, the fire was quickly contained.

However, the person trapped inside the structure died.

HCVFD has not yet confirmed the cause of the fire.
