GOLDSMITH, Texas — An explosion was reported at the Phillips 66 plant that caused a fire early Saturday afternoon, according to Shaun Oglesby, Assistant Chief at Goldsmith Fire and Rescue.
Oglesby told NewsWest 9 that the fire has been put out and the plant is secure.
Oglesby says one person was airlifted after the explosion and fire.
Responding agencies on scene were the Goldsmith Volunteer Fire Department, City of Odessa Fire and Rescue, South Ector County Volunteer Fire Department, West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department, North East Midland Volunteer Fire Department and the Gardendale Volunteer Fire Department.
