Portion of the City of Big Spring under a boil water notice

The notice impacts customers north of North 1st Street.

BIG SPRING, Texas — An area of Big Spring is currently under a boil water notice.

On Thursday, a fire hydrant of an 18" pipeline had broken loose causing a loss of water and pressure.

This caused water to be drained from a portion of the city's water system for an extended period of time.

Due to this, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the City of Big Spring public water system to put all customers north of North 1st Street under a boil water notice.

This means residents should boil their water before consumption. Examples include washing hands and face, brushing your teeth and drinking.

NewsWest 9 will update this article once the boil water notice has been lifted.
