Midland Fire Department releases update on railroad ties that caught on fire

According to MFD, the fire was started by welders. A Midland firefighter was injured fighting the blaze and was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.

MIDLAND, Texas — The Midland Fire Department has released an update on the pile of railroad ties that caught on fire in southwest Midland on Friday afternoon.

According to MFD's report, they got a call about the fire around 3:32 p.m. The fire was located in the 3700 block of West County Road 104.

MFD stated that large railroad ties and tires caught on fire and it appeared that welders were responsible for the blaze.

Greenwood and Northeast Volunteer Fire Department assisted MFD in fighting the blaze.

According to MFD, a Midland firefighter was injured fighting the blaze and was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
