ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — According to a Texas Department of Public Safety press release, on March 8, at 9:53 PM, a single-vehicle crash occurred in Ector County at the intersection of East Loop 338 and Yukon Rd.

Juwan Hedreece Dobbins Jr., a 32-year-old male from Mesa, AZ, who was driving the vehicle, a 2007 Mercury Milan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, Thalia Sigala, a 31-year-old female from Hobbs, NM, sustained serious injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver had a significant quantity of fentanyl pills and had previously evaded law enforcement in Arizona. After being located in Odessa, a traffic stop was attempted by the Odessa Police Department and the University of Texas Permian Basin Police Department.

Hedreece refused to stop and continued evading.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers then joined the pursuit but eventually lost sight of the vehicle.

ECSO resumed the chase, which ended when the vehicle traveled northbound in the southbound lanes of East Loop 338 near Yukon Rd.

Hedreece maneuvered the vehicle into the dirt median to avoid colliding with other vehicles, but lost control. The car went airborne off the overpass, rolling several times before crashing at the intersection of Yukon Rd. and East Loop 338. Hedreece was ejected and pronounced deceased, while Sigala was also ejected and transported to the Medical Center Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
