Seminole woman dead, teenager in critical condition after Wednesday night crash

45-year-old Marianieves Leon Vasquez was pronounced dead by officials. A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition at UMC Lubbock.

GAINES COUNTY, Texas — One woman is dead and a 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in Gaines County Wednesday night.

According to a preliminary crash report from Texas DPS, 59-year-old Kerry Williams was driving his truck eastbound on US-62. On the same road, 47-year-old Sergio Villegas was also driving his truck in the same direction. Villegas had two passengers in his truck, one being a minor.

Williams hit Villegas from the back, according to the report. The collision caused Villegas to veer off the roadway into a ditch, causing his truck to roll over.

Villegas was taken to Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital and is currently in stable condition. 

One of Villegas' passengers, 45-year-old Marianieves Leon Vasquez was pronounced dead by Seminole EMS. The second passenger, a 15-year-old boy, is in serious condition at University Medical Center Lubbock.

Williams was also taken to Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
