ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A fifth grade student was arrested after he brought a hunting knife to school on Monday.
ECISD administrators said students reported to the principal at Barbara Jordan Elementary that a boy threatened two other students and was carrying a knife in his backpack.
According to the report, the principal immediately went to the boy's classroom and confiscated and searched his backpack.
Administrators said the principal found two knives and one of those was a knife with a blade longer than 5 1/4 inches.
The fifth grader was charged with a third degree felony charge of places weapons prohibited. The student will also face disciplinary action from the school district.
No students were injured and the school day went on without any problems.
