US Marshals extradite man wanted in connection to Midland murder

The shooting occurred at a Midland Whataburger in June of 2018.

MIDLAND, Texas — UPDATE: 1/5/22

Julio Cesar Lopez-Beltran is now behind bars in Midland County, according to arrest records.

He is being charged with two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Lopez-Beltran was previously held in the Bexar County Jail after the U.S. Marshals Service extradited him from the Republic of Mexico.

UPDATE: 12/29/21

The U.S. Marshals Service extradited Julio Cesar Lopez-Beltran from the Republic of Mexico Wednesday, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals.

He will be booked into the Bexar County Jail in San Antonio.

UPDATE: 6/25

Detectives believe that the suspect is no longer in the Midland-Odessa area.

The Midland Police Department is working with local, state and federal authorities to apprehend Lopez-Beltran.

Midland police are searching for a suspect in a shooting early Thursday morning.

Julio Cesar Lopez-Beltran is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred at Whataburger shortly before 2 a.m.

Lopez-Beltran reportedly became involved in a dispute with David Morales, 29 at the Whataburger on 2205 E I-H 20. The dispute escalated and Morales passed away from the injuries and one other shooting victim was taken to the hospital.

The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you have any information on his whereabouts or see him you are advised not to approach but to call 911.
