PRESIDIO COUNTY, Texas — According to a Facebook post from the Presidio County Sheriff's Office, a teenager is dead after a hunting accident.
According to the post, at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, PCSO responded to a call of a hunting accident.
A 15-year-old male was fatally shot in the chest while preparing rifles to go hunting, according to the post. The incident happened several miles north of Presidio in a well-known hunting area west of Highway 67.
Family members immediately took the victim to Marfa escorted by Deputies. They eventually proceeded to Alpine Big Bend Regional Medical Center.
Despite efforts, the teenager was declared deceased on arrival.
Names were not given out with respect to the family. The case was referred to Texas Rangers for further investigation.
