PECOS COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead following a two-vehicle accident on Monday morning near FM 1776 in Pecos County, according to Sergeant Steven Blanco with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
DPS responded to the scene alone FM 1776, near IH-10 Frontage Road, at 6:15 a.m. The vehicles involved included a 2022 BMW 330 and a 1998 Ford F-150.
According to Blanco, the BMW driven by 37-year-old Gilbert Sanchez, with 70-year-old Michael Sanchez as a passenger, was traveling westbound on the IH-Frontage Road, approaching the intersection of FM 1776.
The Ford F-150, driven by 23-year-old Kevin Rojas-Maynez, was traveling southbound when the BMW failed to yield the right of way to the F-150, causing a collision between the two vehicles.
Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Blanco.
All individuals involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
The incident remains under investigation with no further information available.
