On Wednesday, May 8, The American Heart Association (AHA) held the ‘Go Red for Women’ luncheon to celebrate women's health and to hear from survivors.
It is the 20th Annual Luncheon, benefitting the American Heart Association and they also celebrated 100 years with the AHA.
They are also recognizing 75 years within the Medical Center Health System.
They even had a guest appearance from West Texas native and the former Mrs. America, Regina Stock, who is also a cancer survivor.
"This event is not only a celebration of everything that the American Heart Association has done in the past year in the Permian Basin and surrounding counties. But also, informational session, we will have panels today talking about women's health and cardiovascular health," said Sydney Gore, Chair of Go Red for Women Luncheon.
One of the big takeaways from the event was to ensure women to keep their health in check and know what to look out for when it comes to cardiovascular health.
Normal checkups are important and identifying heart attack symptoms that actually differ between men and women.
