The Tailgate now in compliance after Midland City Council meeting, according to owners

They now plan on building a newer and bigger venue, as the current location isn't within code for larger events that the owners want to run in the future.

MIDLAND, Texas — The owner of the Midland bar "The Tailgate" has told NewsWest 9 that they are now up to code after a Midland City Council meeting.

This comes after the owners fighting to stay in compliance with the City of Midland, that coming to fruition Tuesday.

They now plan on building a newer and bigger venue as the location on Big Spring Road isn't within code for larger events that the owners want to run in the future.

They'll be hosting concerts and other events at the current venue while the new Tailgate is being built.

The owners are grateful to the city for helping them get back into compliance.

"We are three entrepreneurs with a goal to bring more entertainment to Midland, TX," co-owner Ariel Herrera said in a statement from Nov. 14. "We will always do our best to grow & improve- our goal at the city council meeting was just that. We are so grateful to the City of Midland for helping us along this journey, we could have never anticipated the growth we’ve seen in the past year!"
