ODESSA - Permian High School, New Tech High School and Bonham Junior High will all have new principals for the 2013 - 2014 school year. James Ramage, who was principal at Bonham, will now be at Permian. The high school was in need of a new principal after theirs was promoted to assistant superintendent earlier this summer.
Betsabe Salcido, former dean of students at New Tech, will take Mary Sanchez's spot as the high school's principal at New Tech. Sanchez is heading to Arizona with her husband H.T. Sanchez. To fill Ramage's shoes at Bonham is David Steel from Dalhart.
Ramage told NewsWest 9, he's looking forward to working with high school students again.
"Helping them graduate and pursue their careers. Being principal at PHS is a tremendous honor. I'm also very humbled and we'll do whatever we can to make sure every kid is taken care of and can fulfill their dreams after they graduate," Ramage said.
In other news, the board voted unanimously to support UTPB's study to possibly adopt football and approved to have three TCU graduates at each high school campus to work as student advisors. That will be part of a grant program and will cost the district absolutely nothing.
