MARTIN COUNTY, Texas — Three people from Lubbock died in a crash on SH 349 at Mile Marker 300 in Martin County on Friday around 4:40 a.m., according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to a preliminary report, 22-year-old Kevin Sanchez, driving a 2016 Kenworth truck with trailer, was going southbound on SH 349 near Mile Marker 300 when it suffered a blowout. Sanchez then pulled over to the shoulder of SH 349 to get the tire repaired. DPS stated that the shoulder sloped down and there was a risk of the vehicle rolling, so Sanchez could not move entirely off the roadway.
29-year-old Daniel Lindsey, driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, was going southbound on SH 349, struck the trailer of the truck and also hit three reflective triangles set out by Sanchez.
Lindsey, along with two passengers in the vehicle, 34-year-old Chelsea Clark and 54-year-old Marcos Campos, died at the scene. All three were from Lubbock.
According to the report, Lindsey, Clark and Campos were not wearing seatbelts.
Sanchez was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
