BIG SPRING – Two men have been arrested after a pickup truck crashed through the Social Security Building in Big Spring.
Big Spring Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to a vehicle crash in the 200 block of East Marcy around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night.
An investigation revealed that a 2000 Dodge Ram was traveling westbound when the vehicle lost control and hit a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Then the Dodge Ram continued in a southwest direction where the truck struck the wall of the Social Security Office causing severe damage to the building.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 25-year-old Dustin Riley, fled the scene on foot.
44-year-old William Riley was found inside of the Dodge Ram after the accident and taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for minor injuries.
No one was injured in the Chevrolet Tahoe.
William was later arrested and charged with public intoxication.
Later in the evening, an investigation led officers to the 800 block of Lorilla where they found Dustin Riley.
Dustin was also taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for his injuries sustained in the crash. Following treatment, Dustin was arrested and charged with multiple municipal warrants to include speeding, no driver's license and two counts of failure to appear.
Big Spring Police also said that warrants are being requested for Dustin for the offenses of duty of striking a structure or landscaping and failure to comply with requirements of accident involving damage to a vehicle.
Officials say the Social Security Building was empty at the time of the accident.
Damage to the building is estimated in excess of $80,000.
