MIDLAND, Texas — A preliminary plat for Zoo Midland has been approved by Midland Planning and Zoning.

This plat, which will be called the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, is a different site from the actual zoo site. Animals will be held there before being transported to the zoo to make sure the animals are not ill as to not spread diseases.

Part of the land will also be used to grow food for the animals. The plat meets USDA requirements.

The tract of land will be located on the west side of Todd Drive, about 420 feet south of East Golf Course Road.
