ODESSA - A former Odessa High student is in custody after causing a morning-long panic at Odessa High School.

Mike Adkins, ECISD Director of Communications, tells NewsWest 9 the 16-year-old turned himself into police on Friday afternoon. The 16-year-old is facing a felony charge of Terroristic Threat.

This all started on Friday morning at 9:40 a.m. after a female student at OHS texted her father to report she had seen someone she knew with a gun about two blocks from the school. The father then reported that information to authorities.

She gave police a good description and the name of the suspect and ECISD officials attempted to find the suspect at the school at home but were unable to find him.

During the initial school search, officers were told by students that they had seen the 16-year-old on campus and that's when the lockdown was put into effect.

The students were released from lockdown around 11:30 a.m. and parents were allowed to pick up their students at the school after police cleared every classroom and area of the school.
