MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Midland College will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the June and Frank Cowden Dining Hall Monday at 11 A.M.
The new dining hall will add 18,600 square feet to the existing Scharbauer Student Center and will accommodate 480 people with a commercial kitchen to support daily dining and campus catering.
There will be an outdoor patio area that will seat 70 people and a Community Room for use by community organizations that will seat 90 people.
The project cost $8.5 million.
June and Frank Cowden married in 1945, shortly after Frank returned from serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
They were married until Frank's death in 2006. June continues to live in Midland, and her daughter Linda is an elected member of the Midland College Board of Trustees and a member of the Midland College Foundation Board of Directors.
