MIDLAND - A computer theft has prompted the Midland Independent School District to notify parents and guardians about the unauthorized release of selected current and former student information.
Midland ISD tells NewsWest 9, a computer theft caused the breach and MISD is working with Midland Police regarding the incident.
According to officials, current and former MISD student's Social Security numbers and dates of birth could potentially be used fraudulently. Officials are encouraging parents/students to place a fraud alert on their credit lines and to contact a major credit bureau such as Equifax, Experian or TransUnion Corp.
