ODESSA, Texas — Congressman August Pfluger held a town hall at Odessa College today. During the town hall, the Congressman focused on two main topics: the new House Speaker Mike Johnson and the wins for the Republican Majority, like border and energy security.
“I love Ector County and Odessa Texas, it’s an honor to represent you in Washington DC," said Congressman Pfluger.
He hit on what he called "wins" in Congress that many Odessans in the crowd were eager to hear about. The two big wins for the Basin being keeping borders secure and energy.
"We've cut spending, we passed a parents bill of rights, we have been strong against terrorism and so many other things," he said. "We focused on energy security, which I helped author that legislation. We focused on border security, which I helped author that legislation and have led efforts to secure our border."
"We have a wide-open border and I was able to get Director Ray to admit that the FBI and federal government are still looking for people in our country who match the terror watch lists who came across the southern border, that’s unacceptable," said Congressman Pfluger. "We’ve got a lot of wins to be proud of but there’s a lot more work to be done."
Work that the Congressman plans to continue doing since he recently filed for re-election.
"I want to continue to serve a district that is so important to our national security, energy security, the military, the farmland, the agricultural production," he said. "We are doing things that no other district can do. So to go to Washington to bring a national security focus to what we do here. I couldn’t be more proud to represent Odessa, Texas, to represent Midland, to represent this entire district. "
With local leaders in attendance at today's town hall, Congressman Pfluger emphasized how proud he is of the work they've been doing as well.
"My number one job is keeping Washington D.C. out of Odessa, Texas and out of Ector County and you really see the leadership from Judge Fawcett, Sheriff Griffis, from Representative Brooks Landgraf, Senator Kevin Sparks. I’m really proud of what they do at the local level," Pfluger said.
Congressman Pfluger also spoke in favor of House Speaker Mike Johnson and he reaffirmed his support for Israel during the war.
