MIDLAND, Texas — Election season has been underway for quite some time, with it all commencing in early November.
According to a City of Midland news release, there were 46,311 total early ballots -- including 1,022 votes by mail.
This is an increase from the last election in 2020 where Midland had 46,139 early voters.
According to the same news release, leading locations in early voting were Centennial Library (12,556 votes), Elections Office (11,194), Fairmont Park (10,377), Cogdell (5,558), and Manor Park (5,547).
The news release would go on to show all the elections since 2004, and Midland's early voter turnout has gone up significantly in the last few years. The lowest dated back to 2004 where only 29,901 Midlanders participated in early voting.
According to the Texas Secretary of State's office, Midland County has 99,004 registered voters.
The early voting percentage in Midland is sitting at 46.73 percent, falling short of the state average of 47.97.
Overall, in West Texas, Randall County (Canyon/Amarillo) received the highest early voter turnout with 55.68 percent, followed by Lubbock with 51.66 percent, and Midland following a couple of spots below.
