MIDLAND, Texas — Rance Norton, who currently serves as business development at Solnexus Chemical and Agri-Empresa, is running for a Midland City Council at-large position, according a press release from Norton.

The City of Midland said on Wednesday that Norton was another filer for an at-large position. Robin Poole, Eric Davidson and John Burkholder are also on the list. There are two at-large spots open.

According to the release, prior to his current position, Norton worked as the CEO of PureFrac, a Permian-based hydraulic fracturing company.

Norton also stated in the release that he has over nine years of experience in the energy services sector.

The release states that Norton held multiple positions at ProPetro Services in operations, supply chain, sales and marketing. He also served in safety, compliance, training, continuous improvement, finance and project management for nuclear power plants, according to Norton's release.

Below is what Norton said in the release about the opportunity to serve on city council:

“I am incredibly excited about this opportunity to serve on Council. I have spent my life in the private sector, working to improve our community as an outsider and not a politician. I love this City and am eager to serve on City Council. This is an opportunity to continue the commitment I have made my whole life to building, serving, improving and celebrating this great state.

Representing the residents of Midland would be an honor and something I take very seriously. We need Councilmembers who understand this community, its unique challenges that we are presented with but also the amazing opportunities that lay ahead. I am running to ensure that Midland continues to improve and become more prosperous than ever before. I want to focus on improving our infrastructure, ensuring that your tax dollars are being spent wisely and efficiently and to be a voice for all Midlanders. I ask the voters of the City of Midland to allow me to represent them.” - Rance Norton, Midland City Council at-large candidate
