BIG SPRING, Texas — The Howard County Election Center has moved to its brand new location Friday and is now up and running for early voters.
On Friday, Howard County held a grand opening to show off the new election center. It has been moved away from the county courthouse and is now located right across the Spring Town Plaza shopping mall.
Election officials said they hope the transition can bring a lot more voters.
"The main thing is we are now in a neutral territory so they don't have to worry about running into elected officials while they're voting in the courthouse," Howard County Elections Administrator Jodi Duck said. "We have more space for parking [and] we also have more space for equipment so the lines is going to go a whole lot quicker."
Duck said there are also more voting machines, which will make the process faster.
