Samantha Russell kicks off campaign for Ector County commissioner of Precinct Three

The campaign kickoff for Samantha Russell was held at Grandview Church of God Monday, as she runs for Ector County commissioner of Precinct Three.

ODESSA, Texas — The March primaries are inching closer and Odessa Businesswoman Samantha Russell kicked off her campaign for Ector County commissioner of Precinct Three Monday at the Grandview Church of God.

Russell shared her passion for the community and issues she would like to take on if she's voted in.

"Our courthouse is in pretty bad disarray mainly because of lack of maintenance," Russell said. "So a lot of things that just haven't been done, it's been pushed off. We have a library that is really in bad shape. We have a juvenile detention center which a commissioner's court previously had taken out a certification of obligation for $26 million. So that was not voted on by the voters, which I think is wrong. I mean, a certification of obligation is supposed to be used for extreme emergency like natural disasters. So that money has been sitting there, we don't have an issue of an detention center and that's a problem."

Russell is going up against Don Stringer for the county commissioner Precinct Three seat.

Early voting kicks off on Feb. 20 and Election Day is on Tuesday, March 5.
