(KWES) - PBS Kids shows-almost every child has watched at least one. From "Sesame Street" to "Reading Rainbow", PBS shows have had a significant cultural impact. But which shows were the most impactful?
CenturyLinkQuote performed a study to determine what the favorite PBS Kids show was in each state. The study collected the most talked about children's shows since 2004 and analyzed these shows through Google trends. Among all 50 states, 11 different shows came out on top.
The reigning champion across most states is Levar Burton's "Reading Rainbow". Although no new episodes have been released since 2006, Burton has attempted to Kickstart a reboot for the new generation, though copyright disputes have proved an obstacle.
Texas' favorite show, "Wishbone", is also the favorite show of seven other states. According to the study, Texas ranks along with New Mexico, Arkansas, and Oregon in the states with the largest percentage of dog ownership, making it unsurprising that "Wishbone" and "Clifford" pulled the top spot in these places.
"Arthur", the longest-running animated series on PBS, won in six states including Nevada. The show boasts over two dozen Emmy nominations and seven wins.
"Sesame Street", which is the favorite of only two states, is the longest running children's show on television going into its 48th season.
"Barney", the favorite of six states including Hawaii, helped Disney Channel-turned-pop-stars Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato get their starts.
Surprisingly "Curious George" was not the favorite of any states but "Lamb Chop's Play-Along" scored one state, Utah.
