ODESSA – Two people have been arrested in connection with Tuesday's fatal shooting of 22-year-old Sean Lamb.
NewsWest 9 has learned that two people, 34-year-old Liz Sanchez Hernandez, and her son, 16-year-old Brian Hernandez were arrested and are facing charges of capital murder.
Back on Tuesday, officials responded to the 1600 block of Dixie in reference to a subject with a gun call, just before 4 p.m. Officers had learned that a suspect was seen with an AK-47 style rifle.
Then about 20 minutes later, officers were called out to #30 Neta Place in reference to a shots fired call.
When officers arrived on the scene on Neta Place, they found a Ford Expedition in the alley with someone inside the vehicle. Officers later identified that person as Sean Lamb.
Two witnesses stated to police that they were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident on North Dixie. The witness told police that three people including Lamb were in the vehicle when they arrived on North Dixie to meet with subject known to Lamb.
According to the arrest affidavit, while sitting in the alley on North Dixie, a witness stated that at least three vehicles pulled into the alley and blocked Lamb and the Expedition.
The witnesses told police that they felt uncomfortable being in the vehicle and left but saw several people, including a Hispanic female, assaulting Lamb while he sat inside of the drivers seat. Officials later learned through a Crimestoppers tip that Liz Hernandez was robbed by Lamb and two other people for narcotics and a vehicle.
Officers went to Hernandez's home and met up with Liz Hernandez and Brian Hernandez. Liz told police that Lamb had used her Chevrolet Tahoe without permission on Monday.
While talking with Hernandez, police said that Hernandez appeared to be nervous.
According to the report, Brian Hernandez told police that he received a text message from Lamb on Tuesday asking Brian to bring clothes he left at Brian's house the previous weekend. Brian told police that he met with Lamb in the east alley of 17th and Dixie, gave Lamb the clothing and left without incident. Brian later told officers that he destroyed the phone that he received the text from Lamb on and threw it in the dumpster.
At this point, according to the report, Liz told Brian not to say anything else and to stop talking with police and officers left.
Officials later learned that Liz Hernandez had a municipal court warrant for parent contributing to non attendance. Officials prepared a search warrant for Liz's residence requesting to search for items related to capital murder. However, before the warrant was executed, Liz Hernandez was arrested outside and Brian Hernandez agreed to go with detectives.
Liz Hernandez later told police that she went to Brian's house to confront Lamb about the incident involving Lamb stealing narcotics from her home and using her vehicle without permission.
Liz Hernandez told police, after being arrested, that she was with her brother, Ruben Hernandez, Noe Garcia Galan and several other unnamed subjects.
According to the report, Hernandez told police that Galan and two other subjects forced Lamb into the passenger seat of the vehicle by assaulting him and that several people on the scene were armed with firearms. After the assault, the Ford Expedition was driven away by the suspects with Lamb in the front passenger seat.
According to Brian Hernandez, he believed the purpose of the meeting was to assault Lamb for stealing the narcotics and the vehicle. Brian told police that Galan, Ruben Hernandez and two other people took Lamb into the alley behind #30 Neta Place where he lost sight of them.
Officials say that based upon the investigation they conducted they believed that Galan, Ruben Hernandez, Liz Hernandez and Brian Hernandez intentionally or knowingly acted together to injure Lamb and to abduct him.
Liz Hernandez and Brian Hernandez were arrested on capital murder charges on Wednesday and capital murder warrants have been issued for Ruben Hernandez and Noe Galan. Stacey Castillo was also a suspect in this case and was arrested by Homeland Security.
