WHAT WE FOUND

While the Disney Channel is not shutting down in the U.S., the network will cease operations in France and Spain in early 2025.

Fonda Berosini, a spokesperson for Disney Entertainment Television, told VERIFY that the online rumors suggesting the Disney Channel will stop airing for good in the U.S. next year are “not true,” adding that “this applies to France and Spain only.”

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2025, Canal, France’s leading television service provider, will no longer carry the Disney Channel once a linear distribution deal comes to an end. A few days later on Jan. 7, 2025, Net TV in Spain will also stop carrying the network. But viewers in both countries will still be able to access Disney Channel programming on-demand on the Disney+ streaming platform.

The Disney Channel is still carried in more than 160 countries, and a full slate of kids programming is being prepped to roll out through 2025 and 2026.
