NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Midland Rockhounds and the Arkansas Travelers battled it out in Game 2 of the Texas League Championship Series in Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.
The Rockhounds took Game 1 on Sunday 10-8 and were one win away from the title.
Travelers get the scoring started in the 1st inning
With two runners on and two outs in the bottom of the 1st inning, right fielder Alberto Rodriguez hit a single to left field and brought in center fielder Jared Oliva.
1-0 Travelers.
Rockhounds' Mason Barnett struck out second baseman Brock Rodden to end the 1st inning.
The Rockhounds come through in the 6th
After a walk from Rockhounds' Will Simpson and a double from Jordan Groshans, it set up a good opportunity for second baseman Jack Winkler to get some runs.
Winkler came through with a single to score in Simpson and tie the game at 1-1.
Midland's Henry Bolte struck out and shortstop Jeremy Eierman grounded into a force out to end the inning.
Arkansas fires right back
Bases were loaded for the Travelers in the bottom of the 6th and Victor Labrada pinch hit for left fielder Blake Rambusch. Labrada was able to score in a run.
Rodriguez, who got the scoring started, scored on a sacrifice fly from Labrada.
2-1 Travelers.
Travelers' insurance run seals the win
With Rodden on third base and a 2-1 count to first baseman Hogan Windish, Windish was able to get an RBI groundout to score an insurance run for the Travelers.
Rockhounds were not able to score in the top of the 9th.
Final: 3-1 Arkansas.
