ODESSA, Texas — Former Odessa High Wide Receiver and Four-star Prospect Ivan Carreon has signed his letter of intent to play college football for the Oklahoma Sooners.
Carreon started for three years for the Bronchos, as OHS improved their record each year. He served as a dynamic all-around weapon for Odessa in the pass game, run game and even playing some defensive snaps throughout his senior season. In 2023, Odessa High School went 5-4, resurging in Year 3 under Head Coach Dusty Ortiz.
Carreon amassed over 3,300 receiving yards and totaled 45 touchdowns as a Broncho and used his 6 foot 6 inch frame and blazing speed to dominate secondaries for three seasons. He was the focal point of an offense that made a complete turnaround upon Ortiz's arrival prior to the 2021 season.
Carreon originally committed to Texas Tech in December of 2022, before decommitting in June 2023 and flipping to OU. He credits Head Coach Brent Venables and Wide Receivers Coach Emmett Jones for making the University of Oklahoma feel like home.
The Sooners enter the SEC in 2024, after dominating the Big 12 and taking home 12 conference titles. After a 6-7 mark in 2022 in their first season under Venables, Oklahoma posted a 10-2 regular season mark in 2023 with a bowl game still to be played on Dec. 28. Carreon says playing in the Southeastern Conference was another big draw to come to Oklahoma.
Carreon will enroll early at Oklahoma, making him able to compete in Spring football, before Summer ball and Fall camp, when the rest of the freshman class will join the early enrollees.
