ODESSA, Texas — On Wednesday, AT&T teamed up with Human IT to provide 50 laptops to United Way of Odessa.
AT&T handed out the laptops to students and families in need.
United Way of Odessa said providing laptops gives people in need more than just access to education and work opportunities.
"It is very important that we provide technology to our community that helps them sustain their education and build on those educational requirements. Without the device and the resource, that they go into to continue their learning path, they are at risk. We don't want our residents at risk," said Christina Escobar, executive director for United Way of Odessa. "So we're very thankful for this this opportunity where we can equip them with what they need to continue in their educational journey."
The Ector County Independent School District says more than 5,000 students do not have access to internet or a computer.
