HOBBS - The Hobbs Police Department is investigating the murder of an inmate at the Lea County Correctional Facility.
Hobbs PD was called to the facility in the 6900 block of West Millen Friday morning to investigate an aggravated battery.
Police say 52-year-old Chris Phillips was involved in a fight with another inmate and was taken to Lea Regional Hospital. He was later taken by helicopter to an Albuquerque hospital. Phillips died the next morning.
