MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Former Ector County Sheriff's Deputy Oscar Limon is in federal custody Friday afternoon according to Brendan Griffin, Federal Bureau of Investigation Supervisory Senior Resident Agent.
Griffin was unable to release the reason for his arrest at this time, only that Limon was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Limon, 46, resigned from his position with the Ector County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday after working there for six years.
On Friday of last week, Sheriff Mark Donaldson found out the deputy was releasing classified information from the department. Donaldson would not go into detail about what sort of information was released but he did call it "disturbing."
The FBI was brought in to investigate and say they take these sort of allegations seriously. The investigation may take six months to a year to complete. Once it is completed, the case will then go to a grand jury.
According to Griffin, the FBI became aware that Limon resigned earlier this week after being accused of misconduct.
Donaldson says he will not comment on the allegations until the FBI completes their investigation.
