ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa High School received some national recognition by the Washington Post by landing on the "Most Challenging High School List" for the 2015 school year.

The list identifies which public high schools are challenging students through college-preparatory tests.

According to the Washington Post, America's Most Challenging High Schools ranks schools through an index formula that's simple ration: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of senior's that graduated that year.

"I was extremely excited to learn that Odessa High received this special national recognition," said OHS principal Gregory Nelson in a press release. "We celebrate this accomplishment and will use it to further our work towards our mission of preparing our students for life including college and achieving their dreams."

We're told Permian High School could also meet the criteria but they just missed the list for the 2015 school year. They are expected to make the list next school year.
