1 killed in 2-vehicle crash northwest of Andrews

DPS reports an Odessa man failed to yield the right of way and collided with another vehicle.

ANDREWS, Texas —

EDITOR'S NOTE: The DPS originally reported that Wood was driving a 2017 Honda passenger car. They later released a correction saying he was riding a 2017 Honda motorcycle.

One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on FM 1967 & CR 4401, 11 miles northwest of Andrews. 

DPS reports the crash took place at 12:38 a.m. on Feb. 23. 

According to investigators, William Wood, 42, of Hobbs, NM was driving a 2017 Honda motorcycle east on FM 1967.

Rafael Tavarez, 45, of Odessa was driving a 2018 Dodge pick-up, towing a trailer, west on FM 1967. 

Tavarez failed to yield the right of way turning left onto CR 4401 and collided with Wood. 

Wood was pronounced deceased at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. Tavarez was not injured.
