Andrews man killed in head-on collision in Ector County

DPS says it is looking into whether the wrong-way driver was intoxicated. If so, he will be charged with intoxication manslaughter.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead and two others injured after a head-on collision in Ector County.

The crash took place just before midnight on Feb. 19.

DPS reports Primitovo Aaron Guerrero, 37, of Brownwood was driving his truck south on the wrong side of the road on US 385.

At the same time, another truck driven by Juan Rodrigues, 23, of Andrews was traveling north on the same road. Rodrigues had one passenger in the car with him.

Rodrigues was struck head on by Guerrero. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS reports it was unknown if he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Guerrero and the passenger of the second truck were both taken to Medical Center Hospital. Both are stable at this time.

According to DPS, an intoxication investigation is underway for Guerrero and intoxication manslaughter charges are pending.
