Gaines County Sheriff's Office vehicle involved in multi-vehicle crash

The driver of the GCSO vehicle was taken to MMH in stable condition, no other injuries were reported.

A Gaines County Sheriff's Office vehicle was involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Martin County Thursday morning.

According to a preliminary crash report from Texas DPS, at about 7 a.m. Thursday a flatbed truck was driving northbound on SH 349 and was preparing to turn left on a lease road. There it was hit from behind by a Toyota pickup who was also driving northbound.

A commercial truck with trailer was driving northbound as well on SH 349 and struck the debris in the roadway, causing a tire blowout.

The blowout caused the commercial truck to veer into the southbound lanes, where it hit a Gaines County Sheriff's Office vehicle.

The driver, a Jailer for GCSO, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation and no further information is available.
