TATUM, N.M. — New Mexico State Police are investigating a head-on fatal collision near Tatum on September 29.
Investigators say a Dodge sedan, driven by Amanda Tafoya, was traveling east on U.S. 380 and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.
Tafoya collided head-on with a 2013 Mack Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV).
The driver of the CMV was uninjured.
Tafoya, 19, of Hobbs, NM, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts were being worn by both drivers.
New Mexico State Police are still investigating.
